1. Become eligible

2. Switch your personal account to a business/creator account

  • To switch to a business profile on Instagram, your business must have an active Facebook Page. Fortunately, you can set up a Facebook business Page in a few moments! If you already have a Facebook Page, you can skip to the next step
  • Now open Facebook and click on “Create Page” from the dropdown menu.
  • Then, pick your business category and give a name to your business Page. Your Page name can be your business name or any other name that your target audience may search for to find your business.
  • Upload a profile photo and a cover photo that represents your business. You can also use your logo as your profile photo, or photos of your store or products. Voila, your business’s Facebook Page is live now!

3. Connect to a Facebook Page

  • Open Instagram, go to Edit Profile.

4. Upload your catalogue

  • Log into your Facebook Business account, go to Commerce manager
  • Click Get Started and select Create a Catalogue.
  • Select E-commerce (products) and click next.
  • Now choose how you’d like to include products in your catalogue, and select Upload Product Info.
  • Allocate this catalogue to your Business Manager account.
  • give a name to your catalogue.

  • Go back to Commerce Manager and select your catalogue.
  • Open up the Catalogue tab and direct to Items.
  • Click on Add Items, then Add Manually, and click next.
  • Upload an image of your item —of 500 x 500 pixels.
  • Enter a name, description, and other details.
  • From the Item Category section, choose your specific category.
  • In Create Variants, include different sizes or colours, if you want.
  • Hit Finish or Add Another Item

Decision B: Integrate an Ecommerce Database

  • Go to Commerce Manager
  • Head to the Catalogue tab and go to Data Sources.
  • Now select Add Items, then Use a Partner Platform, then click next.
  • You can use; Shopify, BigCommerce, ChannelAdvisor, CommerceHub, Feedonomics, CedCommerce, adMixt, DataCaciques, Quipt, or Zentail.
  • Follow the link to the partner platform website and the steps there to connect your account with Facebook.

5. Submit your account for review

  • Now you have to submit your account for review. These reviews can take up to 2 days, but occasionally it might take longer.
  • Head to your IG profile settings.
  • Click Sign Up for Instagram Shopping.
  • Follow the steps to submit your account for review.
  • You can track the status of your application by visiting Shopping in your Settings.

Some businesses may be notified that additional information is needed to verify ownership of your website domain. If you receive this notification, follow these steps to complete a domain verification process to submit your account for review.

6. Turn on Instagram Shopping

After getting approval of your account, you can now connect your product catalogue with your IG Shop.

  • Go to your Instagram profile settings.
  • Select Business, then Shopping.
  • Choose the product catalogue you’d like to attach.
  • Hit Done.

If you have a Business or Creator account and you are a citizen of the U.S., you are also eligible for Instagram Checkout, which allows users to complete their procurements directly through Instagram.
